The World Association of News Editors has announced the winners of the 2021 South Asian Digital Media Awards. This comes amid the constant threat and continued crackdown aimed at suppressing the voices of journalists.
The Mojo Story, a YouTube news channel run by award-winning Indian journalist and former NDTV reporter Barkha Dutt also won gold for COVID-19 reporting.
Soon after, Dutt took to Twitter and wrote: “Hello Tweeple! I have some great news to share! Mojo’s story won GOLD at the World Association of News Editors awards. @NewspaperWorld Digital Media Awards for South Asia for our COVID reporting #OnTheRoad. A small team is ahead of the rich behemoths. YAY. “
the The 2021 Awards in their fifth edition received more than 140 entries, a record jump of almost double the number of entries compared to last year. These awards, presented by WAN-IFRA, recognize South Asian publishers who have completed unique and original digital media projects in the past 12 months. From new approaches to digital subscriptions to impactful native advertising campaigns, these are projects that inspire us all.
