Indian Institute of Mass Communication launches digital media course

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is offering a new Postgraduate Diploma (PG) program in Digital Media starting this academic year (2022-23). The new Digital Media course is launched with 20 places each at IIMC New Delhi and its regional centers in Jammu and Aizwal (Mijoram) concurrently. Candidates can apply on the official website of CUET (NTA)- cue.nta.nic.in.

The new Digital Media curriculum will cover topics such as Understanding New Media, New Media and Society, the Internet as a Media, Media and Computing Laws, Online Research, Online Journalism, social media, digital marketing, digital public relations and corporate communication, big data, data journalism, new media and development, e-governance, fact-checking, verification and media entrepreneurship.





According to the Dean, Academic Professor Govind Singh, the new Digital Media course is being launched to meet the expectations of young professionals trained in the industry. “The main objective of this course is to introduce students to new and emerging technologies and their application in the fields of journalism, public relations, advertising, corporate communication and communication for development Students will be exposed to creating media messages in a wide variety of forms using a variety of digital tools.A state-of-the-art laboratory is set up for this purpose.The upper age limit for the course is 25 years,” Mr. Singh said.

Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university can apply for the program. “Students who have appeared/are appearing for the final year/semester examination of their bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply,” the dean said. The IIMC has also launched a PG degree in Hindi Journalism at Jammu and Amravati campuses with 20 places each, he added.

Meanwhile, Entrance Examination for PG Diploma courses in Odia, Marathi, Malayalam and Urdu Journalism will be held separately, application forms will be posted on IIMC website shortly- iimc.gov.in.
