ISLAMABAD: A delegation from the Pakistan Newspaper Publishers Council (CPNE) met with the Prime Minister’s focal point for digital media, Dr Arsalan Khalid, on Wednesday.
The CPNE delegation was led by its chairman Kazam Khan while Ayaz Khan, Irshad Arif, Sardar Khan Niazi and Farooq Tahir were also present.
The delegation discussed with Dr Arsalan Khalid the integrated digital media ecosystem in the country. The meeting agreed that a newspaper digital transformation strategy would be formulated and in line with the vision of digitization at regional level.
Last week, the CPNE delegation also met with the Federal Minister of Information and Audiovisual during which the Minister of Information announced the incorporation of the electronic newspapers affiliated to the CPNE in advertising in digital media .
The digital media focal person informed the delegation that the date of application of the digital advertising policy has been extended until December 31st to ensure digital participation of all stakeholders.
Addressing the delegation, Dr Arsalan Khalid said the government is fully aware that digital media is a reality, given that the government is doing everything to promote a better digital media ecosystem. He said that in this regard, organizations like the CPNE can play a key role.
